Dibs Emotional Wellbeing

We believe every child and young person deserves a safe space to explore who they are, express their emotions, and grow with confidence. Our work is rooted in compassion, inclusivity, and a deep understanding of emotional wellbeing. We use trauma-informed approaches, play-based techniques, and youth work principles to support development. Alongside direct support, we offer staff training and consultation to help create environments—whether schools, youth clubs or community spaces—that are reflective, inclusive, and responsive to individual needs.

Working with Us

"Billy (alias) has come on so much since she started the sessions that I am so proud of her but also Oli. Oli you were so welcoming when we first came to see you and over the sessions Billy has built her confidence that now even when she has been ill, she has wanted to still get up and come in. This speaks volumes because such a lot of my young people struggle to get up and get out of the bed and our service struggle to motivate them. This is a thank you for all the work you have done."

Early Help Worker

”Fun, detailed, empathetic and full of accessible knowledge - you packed so much into 4 hours and were able to engage both very experienced, and emerging practitioners at the same time. I would highly recommend… in fact I already have!”

A little about us

Oliver Neary is one of only a handful in the country that currently holds a specialist qualification in developing emotional wellbeing in children and adolescents, taught by the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy and PTUK.

He was also recently a keynote speaker at the national Round & About Clay Conference, led by the UK’s leading expert in clay therapy – Dr Lynne Souter-Anderson – where he presented on the beneficial uses of clay for adolescent well-being support.

Oliver has a wealth of experience, having worked across the country in primary schools, secondary schools, and specialist schools for children with complex trauma and/or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. He has also worked in youth services; for the Early Help Hub; has delivered hundreds of emotional wellbeing sessions across primary and secondary ages; and is a doctoral researcher specialising in the area of children's services.

Oliver has found that the best approach for young people has been one of non-judgement, empathy and playfulness, taking inspiration from Axline, Rogers, Bowlby, Piaget and Jung’s research. He believes in creating a safe and inclusive environment – a place in which the behaviours that others may label as challenging or chaotic can be funnelled into the freedom of creative thinking. He works across all educational age ranges but is particularly skilled at engaging those in Key Stages 3 - 5.

At Dibs Emotional Wellbeing Ltd we use a wide range of tools to engage young people, whether that be age-appropriate play, sport, spoken word poetry, splatter art, graffiti or the use of clay. What we value most is building the professional relationship with the child or young person, in order to create a safe environment in which the exploration of their identity, thoughts, feelings and autonomy can occur.
